Hiya Andrew,

Sorry I couldn't make it either.  I think we all went a bit ott at the BAWA the night before, so was too pooped for Sat.  Lyndsey also went out for a nice meal with her hubby I believe.

Ohhh... live and learn I'd say.  I lurv your music Andrew, but perhaps its not really for a beginner donimanted crowd, a bit of tailoring, and std maintream pop possibly!   :)

I?m sorry, Marty ? I don?t really see how you can comment when you weren?t there. I think well over half the people in the room might have felt insulted to be called ?beginners?. A couple of people were vocal in their dislike of ?Lindy?, although all but two of the swing tracks are regular items in Leroc/Ceroc playlists around the country, and I saw quite a few people happily dancing to those tunes.

Today, another couple of people told me they would have liked less pop and more swing and rock and roll so you just can?t please everyone.

I?d like to mention that Andrew has done both Maurice?s and Chris?s dances for nothing and he worked hard preparing the draft lists beforehand and trying to read the room and responding to what he could of the 4 requests on the night. I think he did a good job keeping people going (and getting them started in the first place) which is always difficult with low numbers.

You do learn as you go along ? there were a couple of tracks that might not get used again and I?m sure Maurice will get more feedback and let us know if he thinks Andrew should try a different tack next time.

Personally, if there?s a good mix being played I?ll happily take a break when it?s the turn of my least favourite style.

.......It didn't help that I've been rebuilding my study and computer over the last few weeks / months, plus holidays, plus jobs, plus kids, plus (oh yes, nearly forgot) wife, plus...  :'(

..what kind of excuse is that?  If you had been too inebriated through spending  quality time at the pub with your mates then people might have had some sympathy  >:D and has mrs wiggle pulled the pin on that 'pineapple'? :D and is there any wiggle connection with 'littlewiggle'? ???

wooooooahhhhh..... simmer down there pineapple_girl!   :o   :'(    ;)

I'm just repeating the Word "beginner"... I read it earlier on in the thread.

Like I said - I think Andrew is a fab DJ - one of the best in terms of variety - and you guys are based in west country - we are very lucky to have you here!   :)

....I'll leave it there  ::)    ;D

Tell you what... you can beat me up tonight at Lindy if you like.... If you can catch me!   :)

Sincerest apologies

I think that's a very fair point Phil. Getting people to know that event is on is hard enough without not using all of the tools available. I think that Portishead' s UK Jive entry is still associated with Lou which is a bit of a problem. I don't know why Kingswood & Nailsea don't use it (perhaps they don't like "outsiders"  :o ).

I would definitely have been there had it not been for a long standing family commitment.
It looked like a terrific set Andrew (as always) grovel grovel.

Hope to be at the next one Maurice.

Have fired off an email to UK-Jive with correct URL for Portishead.
I don?t know if Lou has had too many calls lately but this will hopefully put the record straight.
(She is a lovely lady and any association with her cannot be all bad ?  :D).

It seems to me that any business (inc.dance classes) need to be on the ball when it comes to the internet with so much information and dis-information around. To be at the forefront has distinct advantages ? would you not say Mr. Webmaster?

It looked like a helluva set!  8) 8)  My excuse was that I was in Greece getting bloated on feta cheese and ouzo.  :P  Where and when are you DJ-ing next, Andrew?  I'll be at any gig where the mix includes Earth, Wind and Fire, The Rolling Stones, Stevie, Christina Aguilera, Grace Jones, et al!  Wicked.  :D

...only just noticed AW's comment - au contraire (or summit - that's French you know) people at kingswood love outsiders (especially if they're cooked properly >:D) I presume, in the case of kingswood, it's that steve is short of time and hasn't got round to delegating.

It would be nice to have a few more people along (though people from other parts of Bristol and 'Bath way' attend dances and freestyles) but on the other hand it's nice to be able to move around without worrying so much about collisions.

Excuses Excuses!  ;)

Thanks for the nice comments though  :)

No gigs planned at the mo  :(

Sunday afternoons at Yatton will return in the autumn & I'm contemplating running something on a friday / saturday evening some time soon.

If anyone wants to hire me to run their dances, I'm up for it.

Of course there's Rock Bottoms in Jan but I think that's fully booked now
