Mailshot: Brighton Ball cancelled
« on: February 01, 2005, 04:29 PM »
Hi All,

This came in from Peter Phillips, the chap who runs the Brighton stuff:

Quote
The Brighton Ball,
(Peter?s 50th  birthday party)
&
Day of workshops
To raise money for the By Grace Orphanage Nairobi Has been cancelled

I am really sorry but I discovered last week that another organiser (Jeff Jasper) is hosting another 50th Birthday party for his partner (another modern jiver) in the same venue on the same day at the same time Hove Town Hall has two dance halls We had the upper hall they have the lower one!

Although this is a private party with invite only admission Naturally the invites are going to lots of local dancers

It does not seem correct to have two VERY similar events held in the same venue simultaneously one for charity with £10 admission, the other free.
It is not fair to make local dancers choose between similar dances

Jeff?s event looks to be a really good night for those lucky enough to be invited As Jeff hires this venue for his regular popular dances The  music I am sure will be his regular mix of Pop, Latin, Swing & Party tunes Plus he has cabarets from Colin & Janneke, Carola,

I will still have a Dance on the 19th Feb, to celebrate my Birthday.
but it will be at our Hastings Venue
Phoenix Arts Centre, Parkstone Road, Hastings, TN34 2NT

8pm till Midnight, Licenced Bar, Ample Parking, Modern Jive Hall  & Swing Room Admission £5 ?plus We have a cabaret from Steve & Jo

(if you have already booked for the hove town hall event you will get a full refund and free entry to the dance at the Phoinix Arts Centre on the 19th

The day of workshops has been cancelled ? sorry A full refund will be issued ? please visit my website for more Info
