Adult ballet classes in Bristol
« on: February 02, 2005, 01:45 PM »
Hello All,

I'd like to do a bit of Beginners ballet, get the basics, learn the terminology, improve my posture, poise and flexibility, etc.  Can anyone advise on adult classes in Bristol?

I took one class with Classical Dance Studios a few weeks ago in Clifton, but have only been able to make it to the first class of the spring term, and, understandably, they expect students to commit (and pay for) a full term.  I'm interested in regular classes but would also like to hear about options for learning privately (as long as it doesn't cost the earth!  ;)).

If it's any use to you, you're quite welcome to borrow my New York City Ballet tuition dvd. If Dave comes to Stoke Gifford on Thursday, I can give it to him & ask him to pop it through your letterbox.  :)

That's a useful start.  Many thanks, Lou.  :-*

NYC ballet vid.. its good but it is  ballet-based warm up routines.  perhaps that would be enough ?
there is a nice adult ballet class in Cheltenham, but that is hardly any use to you, Simon, is it? :)   :)

There is an adult ballet class running in Clifton, near to Habitat.  It runs on a Wednesday evening and they have all levels.  You will probably be the only male!   :o  ;D   Simon and I went once, but it didn't really suit us....

If you want further details, let me know.

Not quite ballet I know - but how about yoga?  I started doing it just because I wanted to be more flexible, but my husband (who admittedly is only a beginner at leroc) has also found that it helps - I've noticed that his posture has improved and yet at the same time he's a lot more relaxed (less tense in the shoulders).  Admittedly it may not be quite so helpful for more advanced dancers, but just an idea!
