The following is a review of last Monday taken from another forum

Yes! I tried a dance class out of town on Monday night, taking my sister, who has never tried modern jive before. In the lesson, one of the female leaders told me my first move was wrong and attempted to instruct me (in a very jerky, bouncy, Germanic way) on how it should really be done.

In the freestyle before the intermediate class, a guy asked me to dance who kept 'directing' me with words. When he eventually asked if I could do the "whirlygig-flying-dutchman crossover whiplash', I was very, very close to asking if he was able to lead it silently.  Oh, and all of the above was done to really up to date music such as Michael Jackson (no, I don't know the track - aren't they all the same?) and Kylie's "Spinning Around".

After that, my sister and I ran away & bought a bottle of bubbly and shopped for shoes on-line ... improved the evening no end.

...wow, there's some wonderful material there Phil. I've never thought of the Germans as bouncy but the goose-step does have a certain jauntiness to it  :crazy2: What did Leonard Cohen say - first we take ....., then we take Berlin  >:D ..and some whiplash thrown in to a Wagner Opera ... Vee haf vays of making you dance to Kylie  :D

Dancers from out of town - the quickest way to make dance teachers sit up and put in a bit more effort!

Oh well.

(Phil - just to clarify, this was definitely about the LeRoc 2000 class, as there were other classes on the Monday night too)?

John.
The Bristol LeRoc / modern jive dance classes are diverse and provide a blend of teaching styles and music styles that are complimentary. If you want to keep them... go to your classes and support them! Check out the free dance, music and theatre clipart images in the new Clipart Library

Well I didn't play any Kylie or Michael Jackson on Monday at The Folk house.

i cant work out if thats a good review, or just a really sarcastic review  :idiot2: :idiot2: :idiot2:

also if anyone doesnt already know, i no longer have anything to do with LeRoc 2000. i was kinda 'ditched via text' (sounds familiar to the Matt scenario) after ringing Sherif, to discuss with him a few things that were bothering me about the way things were, and the way he went about certain things in the class.

i dont know if Sherif has told the class if / why im not demoing anymore. But im sure he has his own version of events.

....the latter i would suggest and with the treatment H.B. been getting (ie: above and at work) i think the DJ should play the 'traveling wilburys' - 'handle with care' for her.

Yes it was defiantly St Bonns

No I don?t think it was meant to sarcastic review

Just a  first impression by  a visitor from ?The Smoke?

The music in the first half was indeed a bit dated

But he played some Pink Martine in the intermediates

Both classes were packed and Lea was Sheriffs Partner

...to me it reads like she wasn't impressed with aspects of the instruction, freestyle lead, music (but i tend to take the view that the glass is 1/2 empty) and they then went to drown their sorrows in bubbly - not blackthorne, i assume.

...is there such a move as a 'whirly....'?  :crazy2:

;D I know that Guy, I call him 'Blue Peter Man' - at one point, I expected him to bring out some sticky back plastic, washing up bottles and string and turn them all into a car!  ;D
