Mika: Grace Kelly

Just heard this - a funny song, not too fast, but a few fun points in there where you can really emphasise a move or just plain have fun with it.

I like the fact that it's a bit different from mainstream poppy music, and has a fairly distinct sound too it (even if it's not too memorable - but maybe I just haven't listened to it enough yet).

Looking forward to hitting a dance floor and taking this song for a spin.

Thumbs up! O0

John.

I've played it & so did Gary Marsden recently both times had a very similar reaction - bemused, It's not that it's hard to dance to but there is something in it that seems to have an unsettling effect. To be honest, i don't see it becoming a long term member of my playlists

I like the song  O0  It isn't the easiest to interpret with dance but I like the occasional challenge and did enjoy trying to dance to it a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe one for a showcase performance.

It's been number one in the charts for a few weeks, as has the album. I've played it as a good slow number for beginners recently.

Keching!

I danced to it with Marty over in Cardiff last week and we didn't have any problems.  Marty did his usual thing of letting me do my thing when he no longer wanted to do his thing and it seemed to work fine!  ;)

Hated it at first, but I quite like it now........

..oh no! this is the genuine JD mode (accept no imitations  :D) - that video looks pervie - i like big girls. Here's another Grace having a bad hair day :

- studio versions are a bit slicker - geddit?  :crazy2:

- if anyone wants a modern sampled version of 'somebody to love' find the raunchy Boogie Pimps' version.

here's a nice, soothing, drug free joan baez song from woodstock :

It's alright to dance to. Will put it in the same box as "I don't feel like dancing". Hear it all the time now but will be good to dance to in a years or twos time and say Oh yeah, I remember that.  ;D

I did hear his new one the other day - quite interesting.  Very jiveable for the most part with a few eccentric bits in it.  Nice and upbeat though.

how about this for danceability; the lyrics are slow but the tempo the music seems good (having to be 120 bpm appears very monochrome):

 - sounded good last night after a few pints (slight - rare - celebration of a minor milestone), can't remember what was said about upping the angular momentum but maybe a candidate  :D

Quite liked the start, but I am not a Leonard Cohen fan!  As soon as I hear his voice, I feel that I am overwhelmed with depression!  Sorry!

I agree with Elaine about Len. but it's just that track i like and it does have some lighter moments with some nice touches in the B & W video (like the girl dancing on the sea wall). I was looking for a Joni Mitchell track - free man in Paris - but it's about the only one i really like that i've heard of her's (Yellow Taxi - bit bland IMHO).

I sometimes get an Album based on one track (eg : Wayward Son - 70's soft rock Kansas and am disappointed but then come back to it later and gradually 'get into it')

IMHO, at some events (not saying all - personal note, must get around more) we get a lot of sugarry up-tempo music (like Mica) and it would be nice to get a little 'heavier' music - sort of 'sweet and sour' .
