It's like the rep system over on the Scottish forum. People can give you points for good posts, and take points away from you for bad ones. All these points add up to your karma. Theoretically, it means that newcomers to the board can know who's opinions to trust - but mostly it all ends up in fights!  ;)

Yup indeedy, so if somebody makes a comment that you really like or approve of, then  you click on "applaud" next to their name, and their rating goes up by one.

If they make a real dork of themselves, then you click on the "smite" button to show your displeasure, and the rating goes down by one.

There's a time limit too, so you can't just hammer the "yay" or "boo hiss" buttons repeatedly.  Sorry! :)

As Lou says though, an interesting way to gauge people's reactions to another person's opinions.

Oh yes, you can't applaud yourself, I don't think! :)
