Apple Macs
« on: April 10, 2007, 07:25 PM »

Hola,

does anyone know how to use an Apple Mac? Ive always used a PC with windows, so anything differentis toally alien. And whats with the Single Button Mouse, i still keep cliking with both fingers.

Anyway is there a way that i can run .exe programmes on there? do i need some kind of windows emulator to make it run, so i can extract the vitals? Me and my dad spent about 2 hrs yesterday trying to suss it out, but neither of us have a clue.

Does anyone know a simple step by step way to do it? I dont know anyone that uses a Mac.

B

Try geeks corner in the other place

Ceroc seems to  run on Macs
Lerocers are more  sensible and use PCs

Bex,

I'm an Apple Mac user, I grew up using them! You'll find most designers are Mac based.

What programs do you want to run on your Mac? A lot of programs have their designated Windows and Mac versions, such as Photoshop and even Microsoft Office can come in Mac version.

There is also a program called Virtual PC that you load onto your Mac and then allows you to run the Mac like a PC. I've tried it, but didn't like it much as it takes up so much space and memory it slowed my computer down too much.

Hope that helps. I'll speak to you when I next see you. Are you going to Newbury on Friday? Danni and Frankie are doing a cabaret.

I hope B is still happy :) , I miss her take on things. HJ resurrected an ancient post about Jongleurs yesterday (which is now mysteriously reburied) so I thought it might be ok to use this Apple topic to talk about Ichunes and whether downloaded stuff can be played on non proprietary equipment. I have a problem (several actually :idiot2:) where i can't play MP3 format on my old ghetto blaster. On Sat., at La Attica, someone was explaining that they were very restricted in what they could do with their Itunes music.

I don't like the idea of putting credit card info on the computer (otherwise i might have selected a few tracks - though i occasionally like to buy a CD) but maybe one of the 'over the counter' cards in the news today would limit the risk. ;)

Can you play those tracks on a different PC that doesn't have iTunes on it though, or play them on a non-Apple phone / player?

you can ( or at least could) export or save an i tune, in a different format, eg CD  audio ; MP3; AAC ;Apple lossless;WAV or AIFF  that could be read by a device that could read the appropriate format

since Spotify I don't use i Tunes very much
