Willing to pay for cloakroom service?
« on: February 22, 2005, 02:37 PM »
Occasionally things go missing, or things get misplaced in the huge pile of bags and coats at the backs of classes and dances.

Would a cloakroom service be of use, and would you be willing to pay extra for it, if it avoided any such problems?

The Bristol LeRoc / modern jive dance classes are diverse and provide a blend of teaching styles and music styles that are complimentary. If you want to keep them... go to your classes and support them! Check out the free dance, music and theatre clipart images in the new Clipart Library

A cloakroom service  is perhaps most useful when travelling by public transport (and doing other things aswell as dancing) and at large venues such as in London.

I don't know if Bristol venues are large enough for it to be viable, though I would certainly pay for it (depending on how much).

If you have an expensive mobile phone etc., there is always the question of whether to leave it in your bag or in which pocket it will cause the least inconvenience.   Have never really found a good solution to this.

For what it's worth, at Elmgrove we already offer a semi-cloakroom service, though it's on a really small scale!  If anyone wants to leave car keys, bags, coats etc behind the desk then someone looks after them for the night.

That's a free service - there's usually someone on the door at all times, so there's room for some stuff behind there, but it's a bit limited for space, and we don't have an official ticket system running.

In an ideal world, it would be nice to be able to have an official cloakroom / ticketing system included in the price of the class, but the size of venue doesn't really justify a full-time person doing that unfortunately.

We also have a (slightly cautious) system running for strangers: if anyone wants to just come in and watch, then they are invited to sit at the front desk under supervision.  Strangers cannot sit in the hall unattended.
