Flashdance musical confirms UK tour

Published Wednesday 31 October 2007 at 14:30 by Alistair Smith

Exclusive: Eighties hit film Flashdance is to be turned into a stage musical, opening at the Theatre Royal Plymouth in summer 2008, organisers have confirmed.

The show, which is about to start open auditions for its female lead, will be choreographed by Arlene Phillips, directed by Kenny Leon and produced by Christopher Malcolm and David Ian. Phillips was in the running to oversee the choreography on the original film, but narrowly missed out.

She told The Stage: ?It was between me and somebody else and I didn?t get it. I was disappointed at the time, but now I have the chance to choreograph the musical and it?s a wonderful feeling.?

The full story can be found here.

John.
