London 9th April - Hammersmith... whats it like?
« on: March 23, 2005, 09:14 PM »
Hiya All again,

Heres the plan, not sure about the sanity of it....
.... I'll be coming back from London that day.... Ie stop off on way back to bristol at Hammersmith - do a "little" dancing... then the long trek home!....

Never been to a dance there before - I hear it really is good though!...
Is it Jon Brett DJ'ing?  (Here is a bit of useless info - I sat next to a bloke in an training course, who use to work with Jon Brett.  Apparently Jon use to work for the MOD... hush hush....  ::)  and guess what this man's name was?  Stephen Hawkins!...  )

....um.... anyways same questions as my post about HMS I suppose....

Whats it like?
*  Dance wise?  (Leroc in the main, or is a mix of other stuff etc?)
*  Music Wise? (Fast or slow in the main?)
*  People wise? (Nice or a bit "London impersonal"?)
*  Whats the floor like?  Fast or "just right"?

All the Best guys
Martin

I used to go to Hammersmith quite regullarly as it has some very good teachers!  Make sure that you get there in time for the classes.  They teach really quickly, so you will only get a couple of goes at each move.

The quaility of the dancers is quite high, but you will probably get less dances, as you will not be known.  Don't worry if you get turned down, it does happen quite a lot up there!  Also, you will find that one dance is standard and you have to ask for the second.

John is a very good DJ, so you will find quite a challenging set being played!

Enjoy!

Thanks for the heads up guys,

Sounds like hammersmith is bit of a dance fest - sounds good to me!   :)

Challenging music sets Elaine???  ...I'm guessing you mean using the DJ inspired opportunities to hit the breaks just right.... making the most of the crescendos.... pin sharp musical interpretation and timing......

.....I really dunno anything about that.... I say lets just wiggle and strut!   :D

Night people!   :)
