I have just noticed that Billy Glasgow's Karma has gone down to -2!   I wonder why  :o

To be honest I am not sure why

I imaging running LEROC Dance Addiction is Billy?s full time job

And the income from it, not only buys a few beers, it also pays the mortgage etc

So it is not too surprising, Billy has Trade Marked his company?s logo

He has not Trade marked the word leroc (although looking at the register he did try)

He has been honest and upfront about what he is doing

While Dancing is a hobby for us, remember for some people it?s their profession

And we should not be surprised if they go about things in a professional and business like manner

PS there is nothing to stop anyone registering some of the logos that appear on the right of this page  ( provided they have not infringed any copyrights )

I agree that trademarking his logo is good business practice.
Although, it looks a lot like the Ceroc logo ;)

But I don't think he's done it in a professional manner, and he certainly has not been honest and upfront.

When he announced his trademark, he did it in a manner to confuse everyone. For instance, on his website it still says he's trademarked the word "LEROCĀ®", yet, as we know now, he only has a trademark for his Logo, and 2 slogans.

He's refused to clarify the situation - he just keeps writing posts with no meaning.

And, if he was honest & upfront, he might've announced it before the registration was granted, or notified a few people who are currently using the name.   ;)

There are plenty of professionals on this forum, Phil. Historically, everyone has generally got along by treating each other with dignity and respect. Something, imho, that's been missing from this incident.  ;)

Short, but surprisingly accurate. :)

Awwww, thanks.

I just put the site on.

Everyone else provides the info and the chat!

Anyway, whatever's happening with Billy's plans for the LeRoc logo... let's hope that some clarification comes as to what is an acceptable use of the word / logo so that we can avoid any misunderstandings and just get on with our lives.

John.

To your point regarding notification prior to registration, this weeks Trade Mark Journal holds over 300 marks, out of the 300 name which one has has given you prior notification outside the registration process. none.

The point of publishing the mark in the Trade Mark Journal over the 3-months is for this process.
I'm sure we made it aware from Thursday 24th May 2007. around 11 months ago.
For the earlier marks containing LEROC from 19.09.2006

so, if one enunciates the 'word' how will one know if it's in capital letters or lower case  :D It reminds me of the comment about FORTRAN programmers actually thinking in capitals.

what is the penalty for using the 'word' in upper case, will one have to pay royalty or be sued or be the subject of european arrest warrant and let's not forget the possibility of download from a dodgy site in Transylvania.

give us an L, give us an E, give us an R, give us an O give us a C
WHAT'S IT SPELL? here's FFFFForthright song for Lizzie  >:D :

All the bureaucratization (jeeze, there is actually such a word!) just seems to be about less choice and more expense.
