That is probably because I haven?t been able to go dancing as much as I used to for a long time because of no car/or problems with the car/ being out of work/living on my own. etc.

Why cant you get a car? cos youve been posting message like this up for ages, and it doesnt take that long to find something that gets you from A to B. Its not like you need loads of money for one. When i graduated I was so so skint,  but desperatley wanted a car. So I was doing two jobs and bought a cheep lil run around, got it taxed, MOTd, and serviced all for under £1000 as that was all i could afford. Try looking on ebay or the trade it THEN if you want to go dancing somewhere and cant get a lif tor a bus you can drive yourself, promlem solved??!!

It is well known that dancing is good for you as it releases endomorphines which are nature?s happy pills and as I have a lot of stress, ? or ind(I guess as others do), because of the above when I can go to a dance I want and need to dance all night.  I always feel so much better all round after a good night?s dancing which I always thank the organisers, DJ, on the night in person, and the rest of the team and of course the ladies who dance with me again in the forum afterwards.  Dancing is for me the only way for getting rid of the stress as I don?t drink much alcohol, smoke or take any other forms of drugs

I love my dancing to BUT I have other things that make me chill out too. Its boring anyway having just one thing to chill out with. If im stressed and cant dance, im just as happy cathcing up with friends, or staying in with a good movie ' Amelie' is my ultimate feel good film. If its nice weather and im feeling down its great just to go out for a walk. OR have another interest like painting, or learn how to fix cars so when it goes wrong you can fix it, or if youy want to be with people try doing volounteer work either going round elderly peoples houses and keeping them company , or working on some conservational project in the community.

You only live once, so why waste so much time grumbling and do something about it :) Lifes short.

looks like HB has got in first but here is a thought or two  :D

actually Bob, being on your own is a neutral position, as i see it, as you could be stuck with someone you can't stand or you could be paying while someone else gets the pleasure - though i worry about them somewhat, the kids brighten things.

here's an interesting piece from an american lady about how bad things could be :
- with some positives

I'm big into saving which in a perverse way i quite like (as an article describing working for neutron jack's GE : "there's tension in the band"). Yesterday, i was taking some 20+' fir tree (too near a house)cuttings to a BANES tip - kept most of the big sections for the fire - and someone was chucking a wooden bed and i whipped out my screw driver and saved the slats for a bunk bed which was missing some, for the kids (might need a spare room, one day)

here are a couple of fav. '70s disco classics :
(thelma houston - don't leave me this way)

and (eruption - can't stand the rain) :

ps : re the car - just 'borrow one'  >:D - they've had two goes at my 'wreck' - it's now chained on the drive.

I love my dancing to BUT I have other things that make me chill out too. ............

 :D :D :D

let's keep it clean  >:D >:D >:D

Totally agree with that comment.   :) :) :)

There's a book about happiness that makes a good read, you can get it in the library so won't cost anything.  It's called Happiness by Richard Layard, and it really made me think about what is important in life!  If you have a library card you can reserve it online at:

Interesting looking book Karen.

The happiest people, kids I have ever met are lucky to have one toy. Maklouwa, in the photo with me, for instance lives in a house with no bathroom, no ceiling, outside loo (longdrop), he sleeps in the same room as Elvis his teen age brother, electricity is from a car battery. No iPod, HD TV, car, bike or pile of DVD. He rarely has anything but that big grin on his face.

The people I know from this township dwell on what they have rather than what they don't. What is important is your health, as I have discovered in the last couple of years and especially from working with Maklouwa and his neighbours.
When a 113 year old man was asked the reason for his longevity,  he said " When it rains, I let it."

You have a real point there Chris, another book I read after 'Happiness' is one called 'The high price of materialism' by Kasser. Not available in the library at the moment so bought this one:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/High-Price-Materialism-T-Kasser/dp/026261197X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1205743974&sr=8-1

We are all so busy chasing after material things - watching TV, keeping up with Joneses etc., this brainwashes a fair few into believing they need lots of stuff which they don't need and it doesn't make them any happier. I think your quote about Maklouwa sums up that up very well!

Why cant you get a car? ..........

i can see what the problem is right away : YOU'VE GOT A HAPPY B UNDER YOUR BONNET.

If the car eventually goes or you get another one be particularly careful on slippery roads or the vehicle could go into multiple spins  :D :D :D :D

and over to the great philosopher/life coach, Ken:
- Jesus......

...be happy.

ps : just in case anybody didn't get the feeble pun : http://www.usingenglish.com/reference/idioms/bee+in+your+bonnet.html
...and it's time to get funky again - me heading for my Clifton class/freestyle.

Very good lesson, and enjoyable night of Salsa again. Thanks to Joe, who was kind enough to come down specially to freestyle  with me and give me his salsa expertise and improve my confidence--he's very good!! Managed until 11-15 last night :o-- but left Becki's clone still dancing the night away--she gets everywhere!! :)

although i had fun salsa-ing i had my eyes on the poles in the corner :)

its not quite got the atmosphere of Que Pasa yet, but im sure after a while it will feel fine again. It was just a bit of a  'goldfish bowl' effect, where there were windows all around and very bright (comparativley for a salsa night) in there.

Some nice dances, and Joe was really good in the class, ive never really seen im at salsa before.

well i was so so so tempted, but i want to practive somewhere a little less in the public eye before making a total tit of myself infront of the salsa crowd and any passers by.

the poles didnt go unnoticed. i think the poor bloke i danced with first in teh clkass was scared by how excited i got when i saw them.

Hmmm aybe one week i will leave the car at home, and get a few drinks at the bar, gain some false confidence and have a twirll on them
