New Latin Blues Class
« on: April 29, 2008, 02:09 PM »
Calling all jives! If you'd like to learn how to dance to slower modern jve tracks, blues & soul, come along to this brand new Thur. class (now on)! "Latin Blues" is for experienced dancers (modern jive or salsa), taught by Cressida Childs (Club Cubana) and Jess Newton, dance teachers with backgrounds in both these styles.
THUR.
8.45-9.45pm - Class
9.45-11.30pm - Dancing
The class will use familiar moves to you, but with slower footwork and sensual body movement. Leading, following and feeling the music will feature as well as Ladies Styling (how to add those extra feminine touches!), and improvision.
The class will be a lot of fun and followed by freestyle for general jiving.

Out of curiosity, how much are the classes / dances?
The Bristol LeRoc / modern jive dance classes are diverse and provide a blend of teaching styles and music styles that are complimentary. If you want to keep them... go to your classes and support them! Check out the free dance, music and theatre clipart images in the new Clipart Library

The actual classes started a few weeks ago.  I am hoping to make it this Thursday night.  I couldn't go last week as my car let me down again.  The damn thing suddenly developed a very severe leak of coolant etc.  I had arranged for it to be fixed next week, and as I was fearing the worst and was dreading it as the last thing I wanted was more big garage bills.  However, I put in some "Radiator Stop Leak" yesterday on the advice of a very helpful lady in the local car accessory shop and it did just what it said on the tin, so all well now.  I went along to the first event of this kind which was last Good Friday.  The lesson was very good and afterwards there was a dance to the brilliant Pete Trill Band.  As I said in my posting soon afterwards on here, it was a great night and I would highly recommend both the band and the event to anyone.  The details of the venue and the prices are:
VENUE:  The Southbank, Dean Lane, Southville, BS3 1DB  The lessons start at 8:45pm.
PRICE: £5 class or £3 for the dancing only from 9.45pm - 11:30pm.  Hope to see you there!

Bob,
Can you confirm if the dancing goes on until 11.00 or 11.30 after your visit on Thursday, please?  Ta.

For your information, dancing goes on until 11.30 in principal, but class numbers have been quite small (so far) with a surplus of guy's (so if that's an incentive to the girls, why not come along!) and dancing actually goes on until the last person stops - usually around 11 ish.
