Nigel and Nina.......
« on: April 24, 2005, 08:42 AM »

We didn't make it to the dance last night as we were absolutely fryed, having been to Cardiff the night before (not in bed until 3.30am  ::)), had a two hour lesson with N&N and then the workshop.

I was soooo impressed with N&N' workshop, it was absolutely fabulous!!  Instead of just belting through move after move, they concentrated on lead follow and compression.  In the 'wiggly' walk, the man was taught to lead this with his right hand on the Ladies back - NOT the left hand pulling the Ladies hand, as so many of the leaders seem to do.

Well done Jenny and Sherrif - an excellent idea for a workshop - and just so we don't go back into our bad habits, can we have them again - soon - please?   8)

Could not agree with Elaine?s comments on N&N more

For once we were taught how to dance, rather than  yet another set of wizzy moves which never gets used

Breakfast is being interrupted with ?kick - ball change -Slllliiiiiiiide - ( look at the window not me )?

More lessons on footwork, the frame, and independent body movement please

great dance afterward - lots a bluesy music to practice too

Another impressive thing about N&N
They way they ?controlled? and reacted with the class
2 hours of solid teaching, no time wasted
a degree of professionalism rarely seen these days

Phil,

Interesting comment about timewasting.  I've started up another thread on this topic:

http://www.leroc-in-bristol.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=310.0

Didn't make it to the class myself, but when I've been taught by Nigel and Nina in the past I have been

a) Impressed, and
b) Challenged by the routines.

John.

it was totally amazing, and was one of the best workshops ive been to! they covered some fantastic moves, and had some nice footwork bits ..... ahhhhh the days of linedancing came flooding back!!! ;D ;D ;D

i would have loved to see them give a demo though, (unles they did one before we arived) I saw N&N doing some freestyle at the back together and they were absolutley brilliant,

sooo..... when are they comming again??  :D  ;D ;D :D

What I liked was that they concentrated  on teaching style, including moving smoothly, lead and follow techniques, and holding the frame, as well as teaching a great routine-- all in a very unpretentious approachable way. But yes, would have liked to have seen a Demo at the dance afterwards too-- there wasn't one as I was there quite early.

no they didn't do a demo.. i was there all the time!! ;) ;)

think that they did best poss in timeframe available. and would rather by far concentrate on lead/follow stuff than 'wizzy routine', although i do like those slides..

dance was ok, verrrrry busy.
elaine and simon.. i hope you caught up on your sleep!
