OK, last night's class was fun (providing we were open-minded and treated the ladies with respect).

However, I noticed something quite unusual.

We have a couple of younger dancers in our class who have just gone up to intermediates - still quite nervous (both from the perspective of being young and from the perspective of "new intermediates").

A couple of these ladies literally changed from the start of the class to the end, and seemed to become a lot more confident in themselves.

I think a lot of it was to do with personal space - something that used to cause me grief when I started dancing (I used to shake when I danced!), but I was wondering if there are other factors involved in boosting a dancer's confidence other than just getting used to having someone in your personal space?

Certainly the personal space one was the biggest factor for me.

John.

I think learning to dance increases ones confidence overall
just wish I had learnt earlier in life

learning partner dancing should be compulsory

Agreed - if I had to learn dancing at school then my life would have been entirely different I think.

However, the life that I have lead has made me into the person I am, so I can't complain - plus for me learning to dance was something that I wasn't ready for until 1997, so perhaps I would have rejected it before then.

Hmmm.
The Bristol LeRoc / modern jive dance classes are diverse and provide a blend of teaching styles and music styles that are complimentary. If you want to keep them... go to your classes and support them! Check out the free dance, music and theatre clipart images in the new Clipart Library
