Dance tickets
« on: July 19, 2009, 10:44 AM »
Am trying to find out if any of the other Leroc organisers have an a problem with someone who has bought  a ticket to one of their events in advance--and can then unexpectedly not attend due to family illness---giving the ticket to a friend--with or without the friend contributing to the cost--(see the For Sale section of the forum for more detail).
I paid quite a lot of money for my Leroc champs Winter Gardens tickets, but will probably not be able to attend due to family illness. But, if I can't go, apparently I cannot  even give my  ticket to a friend so I will be careful in future never to buy advance tickets for this particular event.
I have occasionally bought dance tickets in advance before and passed them to someone else if I've been ill and there has been no problem.
John(Eastman)--do the same rules apply to your Christmas Dinner/Dance at the Winter Gardens? Just wondering :)

I hope that Sherif has a good answer for this.

He's in danger of alienating quite a few people with a move like that.

In my personal opinion, leroc is something I do because I love to dance, not because I love to make money.

Please keep us informed on how this progresses.

The Bristol LeRoc / modern jive dance classes are diverse and provide a blend of teaching styles and music styles that are complimentary. If you want to keep them... go to your classes and support them! Check out the free dance, music and theatre clipart images in the new Clipart Library

Anita,

How would anyone know?  Is your name on the ticket?  Do they ID you at the door?

I presume it says somewhere on the ticket that it is 'not transferable'.

This is not good customer service at all.   >:(

Hi Anita

We always do our utmost to help people sell on their tickets, even on the day itself I will tend to get a couple of phone calls. We can't refund at that late stage but we do our best to help.

Thankyou to everyone for you support on this--I already knew the other leroc organisers would have a helpful attitude regarding  this, and this just confirms it! Thanks also for the private messages of support too.
I don't think there will be any progress John (Gimber) since Sherrif didn't answer my reply to him which said , ' it's a shame you cannot help'.  I am a bit surprised, since he recently asked me to put a review of his West Coast Swing classes on this Forum--which I did happily--but you never know--maybe he will offer me a refund at the WCS class tomorrow. :)

Hmmm, thanks for the update.

I was wondering earlier - if there was a good reason for making the tickets non-transferrable, what would it be?

Safety at the Winter Gardens, perhaps?
- If that was the case though, I would have thought that tickets on-the-door wouldn't have been allowed - only pre-approved / named people.

Any thoughts?

(I have checked the flyer that was sent to me, and it does indeed state (right at the bottom-right of the second page) about the tickets being non-transferrable / non-refundable.  It does seem like a strange restriction though.)

Another way that this could be dealt with would be for Sherrif to give you free entry to a number of his WCS classes to compensate -an act of goodwill  :), which usually goes down very well with customers.

Just seen this.  It's all down to contract Law I'm afraid - a contract is made by the offer and the acceptance.  Sherif has made the offer to attend his function, with rules attached and by paying, the contract is accepted, so technically, Sherrif is correct.

However, as you are such a good supporter of his Anita, I would hope that he will be able to help you out on this!  :)

The writing is pretty microscopic though--you would probably only notice it after you'd bought your ticket  :(

The fact that Tickets are non-refundable & non-transferable is on the booking form , but I think Sherrif is being a Blue Meany  >:(

It doesn't happen a lot but I am going to be serious in this posting and not make any kind of jokes etc., so listen up. For what's it worth my take on this is that I don't think that Sherrif is being a blue meany at all. I guess he has his reasons for doing this. It may be because he had done this before and tried to help people in the past in similar situations, and some people have abused his trust and the system in some way by not paying for tickets or something. It may be someone else and Sherrif, who had the final decision, you don't know do you. I think that Sherrif has done a great deal of good hard work and put in a lot of time and effort over many years for Le Roc in Bristol and the surrounding areas. As such I think we should be supporting him and thanking him for his good works and shouldn't be so hasty and judge him in any way. I am also sure that he will do whatever he can to make amends and put things right.
