I think Gary had some top class coaching in blues from a certain SE based couple - Nigel & Nina
His dances always have a good atomsphere

Pleased to report that it was a first rate workshop which represented excellent value for money - congrats to Gary & Sylv for their teaching and organising. The British Legion at Taunton was a great place for a workshop of about 30 students size wise and lunch was very reasonably priced with plenty of choice.

There were lots of smiley faces and giggles throughout so i think most people were enjoying themselves as well

What I remember (not nec what was taught  :o ):

Lots of concentration on lead and follow & body postions, then developing into moving in circles (slow & farster) and adding dramatic flourishes.
All of the above in the Sway position as opposed to Basic
Nice ways to get into and out of the Basic hold (great for MJ as well)
Some simple but highly effective twists and leans (again great for MJ as well)

Loads more but it's hard to remember it all!

As a taster for Blues dancing I think it was just right - need to practice practice practice now & I'm really looking forward to parts 2 & 3

Picked up a couple of nice track recommendations from Gary which I've tracked down now - Friday the 13th by Royal Crown Revue from The Contender (Nice version of Stormy Weather too) and Misery & The Blues by Maria Muldaur from Meet Me Where They Play The Blues (which also contains the wonderful It Ain't The Meat (It's The Motion)
