Well, this was my first ceroc dance in... 13 years, so I was a little unsure what to expect.
Overall, pretty good.
The car park is large so there wasn't a problem there.
I wasn't sure if there was any animosity between the ceroc staff and leroc staff *, so on entry I was planning on keeping a low profile, but was spotted and identified by Mel on the door straight away - the lady has a good eye! The greeting was pleasant and I was made to feel most welcome - always nice.
The dance hall was large, with a stage at the front. Plenty of room for dancing. There was a full sized tennis or badminton court marked out on the floor, with chairs around this area, so that gives you an idea of size of the danceable area.
The floor was a standard parquet wood - hard, but smooth and quite fast. I was glad I had my dance trainers on - I think my standard dance shoes would have skidded a bit.
The music was nice, though there were only two speakers at the front of the hall - perfectly adequate, but the bass was slightly distorted. Not sure if this was down to the "hall acoustics", underpowered speakers, my hearing or the occasional music track encoded at too-low a bit rate. This wasn't enough of an issue for me to be worried in the slightest though.
One thing I did notice was that it was hot as blazes in the dance hall. There were lots of people generating heat though. Not sure I'd fancy that on a hot summer's night.
Around the dance hall there were other rooms - the (mercifully cool) bar area, a reception area, etc., so people could go and cool off or just take a break from the noise - something that it is nice to do on occasion.
I didn't join in the class at the start (which finished a little after 9) but the moves looked quite nice. I think I'll stick to my leroc moves for the time being...

The midnight refreshments were pleasant - teas, coffees, cakes, biscuits, and (of course) the much anticipated plate of chips and brown / white bread ready for making butties. The usual sauces were on offer as well, including mayo! (how do people put mayo on chips - shouldn't be allowed...)
Anyhoo, did I enjoy myself? Yes.
Did I dance lots? Yes.
Would I go back? Yes.
Will I take extra shirts and a towel next time? Yes.
Hopefully everyone else enjoyed themselves too.
John.
* Long story from my 13 years ago in Minstead - where rival teachers were spotted and thrown out of the venue. Not impressed with that, but not been back to a ceroc class for 13 years, so didn't know if this was a one-off or a policy thing. Thankfully, not a policy thing by the looks of it.
