Benefit cheat Terence Read was jazz dancer
« on: August 04, 2010, 11:47 AM »
Hi All

I found this at the BBC website:

Quote

A 61-year-old jazz dancer claimed thousands in disability benefits despite video showing there was nothing wrong with him.

Terence Read, from Manchester is due to be sentenced for cheating almost £20,000 from the benefits system.

Dave Guest reports

The full story can be read here.

This kind of thing is always unclear to me.

Somebody may have a disability, but still able to dance - for example Heather Mills, who only had one leg.  Also, when I was bad with M.E. I could make it out and dance, but suffer enormously afterwards.

Hmmm, the jury's out.
The Bristol LeRoc / modern jive dance classes are diverse and provide a blend of teaching styles and music styles that are complimentary. If you want to keep them... go to your classes and support them! Check out the free dance, music and theatre clipart images in the new Clipart Library

I don't think Heather Mills is claiming benefit, at least not form the Dept of work and pensions

This story is of interest personally as i understand that the dapper diddler had a hip op (no, not hip pop) which enabled him to keep movin. As i forgot the surgeon's advice of 30+ years ago and more recently started doing more manual joblets, I may suffer the same fate - though i hope (an empty word, as one of favourite doom merchants describes it) by being careful and suitable exercise to avoid that.

Without wishing to be too judgemental, especially as jobs demand now far exceeds supply –  and accepting that lots of people are keen to work despite the box shifting, burger flipping servile nature of our economy -  here are a couple of 'fitting' track/titles (imho): one sweet and one sour:

Visitors to Weston-super-Mare might like to check if there is a plaque to Ritchie Blackmore, guitarist.  :D :D :D

ps : the Sun has some classic cases:

It wouldn't be fair – so here's a view (mine) of the other end of the spectrum.

What a coincidence ... the news of a person who (or is it whom?) despite being knighted, represents another facet of f'ed up Britain. I learned about him and others who live on what the French call the 'English Rock' when BBC radio Bristol reviewed a book called Rich Britain (the interviewer no longer works for the beeb). In his case I guess the brilliant business model – really good for the economy but not ours - is to import clothing, mark it up and expatriate (can that be used for things?) the profits, tax free to Monaco. Of course, having lots of easy money in the days of 'no more boom and bust' must have been heaven sent. Now the gov. wants him to help sort out state spending  :uglystupid2:-it all makes me pleased to be earning less and not having a feeling of paying to build my own gallows - see i always like to be positive  >:D :idiot2:
