The Name of our Game
« on: August 26, 2010, 09:57 AM »
Following a few name changes a few people seem little unsure of who is who

Hope I have got this right

Clifton Leroc, which meets at the Folk house, Park street, Mondays and run by John E is no longer Clifton Leroc, it is now Bristol Leroc. The original Bristol Leroc ran by Janet & Michel Gay used to meet, many years ago, at Victoria Methodist Church Hall. Bristol Leroc

Leroc UK, formally Leroc 2000, often know as “St Bonn’s” and taught by Sherif, is moving to the former home of the original Bristol Leroc, Victoria Methodist Church Hall (near Habitat) on Wednesdays

The face book group, Bristol Leroc administrated by  Karen Borek, and John E has changed its name to Leroc in Bristol, which is also the name of this web site

The Clifton Leroc Winter Ball is now The Leroc Masquerade Winter Ball
Run by Planet Leroc and Clifton Leroc, which of course, is now Bristol Leroc

There are about 10 classes and or groups teaching or promting Modern Jive in the Bristol area, all using the Leroc name. I do not think there is any business connection between them, other than some (not all) belong to the Leroc Federation

Well that's a bit of a pickle.

I'm surprised that the facebook group has the same name now, but... on reflection, not a problem.

I guess I have some changes to make to my site to update the new names and venues then!

John.

These statements seem contradictory but I guess A. is being a little sarcastic. :D >:D :D - who would have thought :D

Anyway I just wanted the very slightest excuse to post this by Alex Jones which might suggest that people (even lerocers) just want to believe that there is someone 'up there' taking care of them - towards the end  there is even the conspiracy theorists take on facebook :idiot2: >:D :D

- Alex has definitely gone up in my estimation by referring to 'Chilee' and not 'Chilay' :idiot2:

Yes, thanks for clearing that up, it was confusing me for a while. There again, I have reached that time of life where I am finding a lot of things confusing nowadays - "Do I come here often?". One thing that is making me feel even older is that the "new" venue for, what was it again - bristol leroc? - is where I first started trying to learn le roc all those years ago when I was 39! I think it is a good choice of venue, especially as other types of dancing are being held there on other nights such as tango and I would like to wish Sherif, Matt and the team all the best.

I totally forgot about the forum being called 'Leroc in Bristol' when I changed the name of my facebook group to the same  :idiot2:

My mission was to leave the facebook group name as similar as possible to what it was before - it couldn't really stay Bristol Leroc as would seem to be just for the newly named Bristol Leroc, which it isn't, it is for all Leroc classes and dances in and around Bristol.  I also wanted it to come up if anyone searched for Bristol Leroc, which it still does with the new name.  :)

Happy Dancing whatever the name  :) ;) :D

As far as the name goes - not a problem.

I've created a "facebook" link on the sidebar to link straight to the facebook group.

My take on this - I'm in this to have fun and to promote leroc - the facebook group helps out with my goal, so the more the merrier!

Let's dance.

The Leroc Masquerade Winter Ball must not be confused with the Trinity Leroc Annual MASKERADE  Ball

nor should  you  confuse John G ( leroc in Bristol ) with John E (Bristol Leroc )

we have yet to discover if the facebook "John Clifton Leroc" is going to change him name to" John Bristol Leroc "

Hypothetically as John E is an admin on the LeRoc In Bristol facebook group, this does give you the option to confuse John G (LeRoc in Bristol) with John E (LeRoc in Bristol)...  just make sure you don't go tarnishing the reputation of my LeRoc in Bristol site...

Speaking of which, Karen are you going to link back to this site now that I've put a link to yours?

Although the number of times people have thought that I'm John Eastman and that I run the LeRoc Federation stuff as I run this site is quite funny... :P

OK good, we got that cleared up then.  :2funny:

Needles to say, the Leroc  federation has nothing to with THE FEDERATON. The  UFP It has  been described as a utopian socialist society, which again has nothing to do with Utopia, the dance style.

John G, there has been a link to this site on my Facebook group since before you were even on Facebook, it went on in December 2007!

The problem is that everytime someone posts a link on the facebook group wall, the other links get pushed to the back, and this one had got down to about number 35 on the list!  But I've been deleting some of the out of date stuff linking to events and suchlike and this one should now be visible should anyone bother to look. But just to make sure - I have added it onto the information bit  :)

Regarding the Trinity 'Maskerade' Dance, just to confuse things I set this event up on the Facebook Group as the 'Masquerade' Dance - but that's just because I like things to be spelt correctly  >:D

....and at this rate I will end up with a mask collection to go along with the dress collection.   ;)
