Nailsea Summer Dance June 4th
« on: June 06, 2005, 11:24 AM »
I had a great time on Saturday and it was nice to see so many people who aren't class attendees. I don't know how many attended but it was easily the most successful dance here this year, with the dance floor full most of the time with many others chatting on the sidelines.

I hope that the music was to people's taste this time, if it wasn't then I'm as much to blame as Diana as i supplied her with a lot of it, but I trust that there was sufficient variety that everybody would have found lots to dance to.

I don't know when the next dance will be, but I hope it will be as good as this one, if not better  :)

Fair play to you & Diana!  :) It must've been good, as I'm sure I read a post of Graham's where he said he was impressed. Also saw your post on the scottish forum... mmmm.... In-grid's Moi, Esclave De Toi.... very nice.... Just need to steer you in the direction of Nine Inch Nails now.....  ;D

I downloaded NIN on Saturday having read your post but haven't listened to it yet - but I don't think that Nailsea is quite ready for Trent  >:D

Some tracks that you like (I think) went down well - Buleria, Besame Mucho, Goodnight Moon jump into memory. I think I went too far by including Misirlou (Pulp Fiction) - I'm sure I heard one person call for the oxygen mask  :D

Total drool!  ;D And good to see you getting into the whole Tarrantino thing, too!  ;D Wish I'd been there.

Didn't think of that connection - I had "Don't let me be misunderstood" too which we didn't get around to , some subliminal thing going on.

Perhaps we can have "Tarrantino" as a themed evening - I've already got Stuck in the middle with you, You Never Can Tell, Bang Bang, Woo Hoo & Let's Stay Together as well as Mary Had A Little Lamb, Willie the Wimp (OK Rodriguez but QT was in it)

Have to go and look on amazon for a bit more inspiration!!!!!!

Aha.... subliminal and subversive...

Plus, Goodnight Moon, of course, appears at the end of Kill Bill 1.  :)

I

I hope that the music was to people's taste

No complaints about the selection but would have like a bit more power

Was the volume  really kept down  so people could chat

I'll mention it to Diana when I speak to her later this week - I suspect it's more likely that the volume was set early when there were few bodies present to absorb the sound and not adjusted to compensate.

Yes, I agree Phil--music still not nearly loud enough--as with the last two dances.

The first thing I noticed, though, was the sound system. The sound wasn't good at all. The bass was thumping, but the middle & top were so muffled as to make unpleasant listening. Fortunately, when this was pointed out to the organisers, they moved the speakers from behind the curtains & fiddled with the controls which improved things enormously.  :)

As Lou found - just mention it & someone might sort it out. Blimey we're so british about complaining  :D
