Most people when they learn to dance want to be able to go Dances/events where they can use their new skill.  It is surely in the interest of Leroc teachers to inform their pupils of the places they can go to enjoy their new hobby, regardless of the organiser.   I go to various independent classes in and around Bristol, and some of them make a point of telling the dancers about the dances that are coming up, some always make sure there are a few flyers on a table, some only seem to want to promote their own dances ???   .  The latter isn't good for the survival of Leroc and doesn't encourage new dancers into the scene.  New dancers and people new to Bristol really need to know where they can go to dance.  When I talk to people I often find they have no idea that there is usually a dance going on somewhere in the area ???

It is all available on the internet, but believe it or not, there are people still out there that don't search the internet for dance events or indeed anything  :o.  I wonder what others think?  Should the Independents make a point of telling their customers where they can go and dance at the weekend?

Most dances are listed on here under events, but if you are on facebook, I do my best to keep people up to date with up and coming independent dances in and around Bristol from my independent Facebook Group, Leroc in Bristol.

It must be appreciated "independents" are just that. independent. they are independent  of Ceroc and independent of each other.

I am not aware of any connection between the various Modern Jive classes , that use the Leroc name. So we should not be too surprised they do not promote each other

Modern Jive seems alive and well, last weekend there were quite a few dances with in an hour's drive of Bristol and as far as I am aware, they were all well attended

If an event is not well attend, I dont think it is because people are unaware of it happening, it is simply because they are not providing what the customer wants

Me ? Yes I want chips with everything  ;)

No seriously, all I want is a real live DJ who has an bang up to date  selection of music, can "read the floor" and plays a wicket set

If that mean paying a few £££ more and having greasy chips, I am all for it

When I was teaching, I always encouraged dancers to go to other venues and classes.

One man can not teach everything to everyone in every way.

The students were important to me, and there was nothing that I liked more than to see them coming back from dances or classes with new moves that I didn't know.

The Bristol LeRoc / modern jive dance classes are diverse and provide a blend of teaching styles and music styles that are complimentary. If you want to keep them... go to your classes and support them! Check out the free dance, music and theatre clipart images in the new Clipart Library
