Slow it down guys.
« on: June 11, 2005, 11:06 PM »
Let's just relax, slow it down a bit, get kinda bluesy, think sexy, melt into each other, .....
Come Away With Me; Cold, Cold Heart; Norah Jones.
The Closest Thing to Crazy; Katie Melua.
Am I the only romantic ??

I certainly like to hear these from time to time at a dance - I don't recall having heard the 'Closest thing to crazy' though.

Nice idea but the average Leroc dancer in Bristol (members of this forum are clearly not tarred with this broad brush) wouldn't have the first idea about how to dance to such tracks and would demand that the DJ immediately play Call On Me.

"Blues" dancing is popular in Taunton - I've been to one workshop there and I hope that I will be going to another soon. Dancing that slowly takes real discipline & practice, which is probably why most venues steer clear of it bar playing the odd token track.

You could just about leroc to COld COld Heart (at 115bpm) but aren't the others way way WAY too slow? Come away with me, at 82bpm, is probably too slow for blues as well?

Would love to... not going to happen in Bristol tho.
Shame - alot of the music can be really moving and uplifting - just in a different way (Compared to the regular Chart stuff etc.)

Sat 3am - Torquay -mind blowing  :D
US3 - Cantaloop

What about that lovely bluesy Sarah Connor track that John Eastman plays - Turn Out The Light... that's a bit nice....

..sad but true ... was looking for the 'music or danceability' topic but found this - sarah connor - she was the lass that Arnie was trying to terminate. I think I would rather try dancing to some music i like rather than has the right metronome quality.

Can't find a sample of that Lou. But I did find a song of that title by Don Williams - I just know you would love it !!

Call on Me still kicks ass!

Substitute the word "kicks" with the word "sucks" and I might agree  ;)

I quite like Pussycat Dolls - Buttons and Touch and Go - Tango In Harlem.

Buttons is fab and is actually a rumba!  Tango in Harlem gives me the chance to guess what????  Tango!  ;)

I love slow music - the slower the better as far as I am concerned and would love to be able to dance to more of it........I do enjoy fast tracks as well, but I can really interpret to slooooooow (if allowed! ;))

Tango in Harlem, at about 133 bpm, is not slow. Its a good mid-paced jive tempo

For me, slow is anything below 120, and undanceably slow starts someplace below 110
