I know a song that'll get on your nerves
« on: June 13, 2005, 08:00 AM »
Following last week's tracks you lurve thread - here's your chance to vent your spleen over those songs you can't bear to hear played for MJ.

I'm not talking about tracks you are tired of hearing 'cos they're always played but one's you really hate from the word go.

My starters

Axel F - Crazy Frog
Call On Me - Eric Prydz
Comfortably Numb - Scissor Sisters (a real crime against music by a band I like)
Falling Star - Sunset Strippers
Lyla - Oasis
Party For Two (Almighty Downtown mix) - Shania Twain
Simply The Best - Tina Turner
Why? - DJ Sammy

Hiya All,

I gotta agree with Becky_strawberry_princess_baby.

I love the tunes above - that I know!   :D  :D  :D

Axel F - Crazy Frog   (Brilliant - very retro.....great Video)
Call On Me - Eric Prydz   (....uuummmm....great Video!!!!   ;D  ;D  ;D )
Comfortably Numb - Scissor Sisters (a real crime against music by a band I like)   (Challanging - make those breaks!)
Falling Star - Sunset Strippers   (kish fun.....)
Why? - DJ Sammy  (  Come'on guys, loosen up!  with the summer and everything!....  )

The only one that I'm not keen on is:
Simply The Best - Tina Turner

The others???? dunno them!

Man I Feel Like A Woman.

(Actually - anything by Shania.)

Disagree about Scissor Sisters, I'm afraid.  :)

That's fine, we can't be seen to agree on everything can we? - I can't forgive them though (Floyd have a special place in my musical affections)

Aha! Well, very happy to disagree with you here. My punk roots tell me to Kill The Hippies! (So, I detest Floyd, and any other 70's guitar widdling self-indulgent twaddle with drum solos, etc...)  ;D

Oi - I never qualified as a hippy.

Whilst I did own Dark Side Of The Moon from the age of 12, my teenage years were spent with Judas Priest & their ilk - preferred the Leather (pre lycra) , Denim & motor bikes to PVC, safety pins, gobbing and puking.

Got back into Floyd after The Wall - when I was a grown up 18 year old I think I bought it for Julia (yes i have been with her for over 25 years even though she doesn't look a day over 35  :) ) for Xmas that year, but she didn't like it 'cos it was too cloomy - fancy that.

Looking back with rose tinted specs I can now appreciate the finer points of Punk more than most of the Metal from that time - The Clash were great, The Stranglers had there moments and The Sex Pistols were quite a phenomenon (Not too sure about Billy Idol though  :P )

So don't call me a hippy  8)

I've never been overly fond of the gobbing & puking either!  ::) Looking back, there was an awful lot of "hair metal" around then, too.

Shhhhhhhh.... you'll wake up Graham. Some people wake up grouchy & I'm not prepared to take that chance....  :o

OK - and I have to admit, it leads to a deliciously ecclectic taste in music.

Back on thread - Another song that gets on my nerves - Sweet Home Chicago! It's too long and overplayed!  ;D

Hey ya by outkast (yuch, yuch, yuch!) and anything by Brian Adams.  I used to quite like a couple of his songs, but found they were being overplayed.  ;)

As for Tina Turner and Simply the Best.  Not for Le Roc, I agree, but it does make a tear come to my eye......it is a piece that is used for canter in dressage to music and brings back special memories for me!

No - just there's more doo dahs at a dressage event than roses, I would think  :)

Julia
