Wow what a comp!!!  The dancers from Bristol really did Bristol proud!!!  Many congratuations to everyone!!!

Sue and Garth were second in the Seniors and Alex and Lin were a joy to watch, but unfortunately didn't get placed!

The Open was absolutely jaw dropping stuff - a master class!!  Simon Rich and his partner were right in front of us and they were awesome, but didn't get placed!  Phil and Yuko, who won it, are just magnificent.  Will and Kate were as beautiful to watch as ever and Keith and his partner (sorry memory loss - too much booze!) were a pure joy -they absolutely oozed class!!

The Advanced was a clash between the young uns, with Tom and Vicki from Cheltenham just beating Matt and Becki.  Stevie Wong from London came in third and us old timers coming in somewhere after that!

Lesley cornered the first place sector and really deserved both her wins!  Her partner in DWAS was Simon Rich and they absolutely flew it.  Lesley is a first class follower and seems to be able to change her style to her partner - brilliant stuff!!!!!

Everyone was so excited to see Mark and Lizzie get their first result in intermediates - they have worked so hard and really, really deserved their third place.

As for myself and Simon - wow, what can I say!!!!  There was only point between us and second place (Will and Kate) and they were only one point behind Phil and Yuko!!  We were told that three Judges had put us in first place!!

I honestly thought I was going to faint when David Barker (Judge) came up to us after the showcase to say that we had put on a really good performance.  We had some lovely comments from lots of people, including the cameraman......I think it will take a few days to recover!

Sorry if I sound as though I am collcting an Oscar, but I have to say it!!!   Simon and I would like to thank Jenni Harrison so much for her help with the Showcase.  She has worked with us on it for months and has regularly juggled family and work commitments to help us - an incredibly generous person.  Also thanks to Mark and Jackie for letting us show our little number over in Cardiff last week - it really helped!  Thanks also to those of you who have helped in other ways and have given us encouragement!!

Mark and Jackie must surely get the award for bravery!!  Mark put his back out on Wednesday and couldn't walk!!  The chiropractor had been working on him for two days and how he managed to perform in both the Open and the Showcase, I will never know!

The Bristol and Cardiff crowd as ever were awesome and it is a joy to know that when you get out on the floor that you have such wonderful support - you Guys are number one!  Special thanks to Anne and Sharon, who just love to watch and are prepared to travel miles to support the competitors.

Finally, well done to Jenni and Sheriff for putting the event on and the crew who helped them.  It was a really slick event and I know that some of you were on duty for over twelve hours - congratulations - I really hope the event grows and grows!

Elaine

I'd like to add my congratulations to everyone who took part too, winners or losers alike.

Just taking part is enough to make you a winner.

A big salute to all the competitors but huge congratulations to the local dancers who got placed or won!  :D 8)  Sounds like I missed a fantastic day's dancing and competing.

Simon and Elaine: I can't wait to see this awesome showcase routine.  Third in this division against such competition is terrific (and I can only echo your comments about the selflessness of Jenni Harrison).

Lesley: a great follower?  Without question one of the finest.  8) Well done to Mark and Lizzie and Matt and Becki, all excellent results.  :) Nick Britten - what can one say.  A living legend!  :-*

Can't wait to see the video (the illicit local dance video Copy Club is going to go into overdrive!).

Can't wait to see the video (the illicit local dance video Copy Club is going to go into overdrive!).

Well that depends - was there a request at the venue NOT to do any videoing?

If not, I guess any videos are fair game...

 >:( I missed your showcase Simon and Elaine. I'm really sorry. Hopefully I'll get to see it in two weeks with the DVD coming out (impressively fast BTW). I am so pleased for you, what a stunning result.

I have to say my favourites were also Simon and Lisa in the Open. They are looking so good, yet not placed  ???

I have to say I had a fantastic time in WSM. It is the most fun I've had at a competition (even with the usual pressures)

Had some fabulous dances in the evening - thank you Gareth  :)

Do you have a scanner Shera?

If so, scan it and stick it on the forum! :)
