It's on in Yatton this Sunday (May 7) again.

Is the one in Bristol still on? nothing on the leroc 2000 web site ...

I know that Yvonne was going to try to go to that one to try it out, it will be a shame if it's not on

I don't know. The last time I spoke with Sherif he said he was planning to cancel it - basically because it's too difficult to go head-to-head with another WCS class on the same day. I guess that makes sense from his point of view. I should get Yvonne to check with him for definite, though.

Difficult one knowing whether to cancel an event or not. You want people to book up front so that you can be sure to cover costs, but lots of people want to see how they feel on the day.  What happened with the WCS and tea dance at Filton Folk Centre that Sherif was running after our dance last month?

Hi Lou, if you could find out that would be really useful as the current choices for a WCS workshop this Sunday appears to be Bristol (St Bons), Yatton or Oxford.  If Bristol gets cancelled then probably need to get an urgent booking to Oxford (or should I save my pennies and go to Yatton which is considerably cheaper?  ???).

It happened, however, with it being Easter Sunday, it wasn't that well attended.

Sorry Simon, I'm probably not going to have a chance to speak with Sherif at the mo. Best if you give him a call.

It's on in Yatton this Sunday (May 7) again.
Went to Yatton WCS workshop and had a good time.  Ed Lawton seems to be a really nice and genuine guy.  The lessons were mostly aimed at beginners (which is the predominant level amongst those attending) but the atmosphere was positive, music ok (when Ed settled on which track to play!  ::)) and there were some more difficult moves thrown in, too.  Best of all, only £5, and I say "only" because the usual price for a WCS workshop now appears to be about £25.  I'm sure there are good reasons for that but it seems steep compared to yesterday's price.

Was nice to see Simon there (even though he's so much better than the rest of us  ;) ) Yvonne had lurked on the forum and seen that the Bristol class wasn't on so it was all ok.

I'm beginning to get the hang of it I think, so I'm going to persist (I'll be on my own for the next two classes though as Julia is otherwise engaged).

I agree with Simon about the music - Ed really doesn't seem to have much aof a clue about operating the CD player   ::)

I thought it was a good turn out considering that the weather was nice, but I think there were as many people from Exeter as there were from Bristol. Sherif was there though and he took some of Ed's flyers so there may be more communication of it's existence in Bristol

Looking forward to the next one on June 4

Yes, £25.00 does seem to be the trend - I notice that Sheriff is charging £15.00 for part 'a' of a work shop, £25.00 to include part 'b' and then you have to pay extra for the evening dance.  So, for two people, the cost is £64.00.  We pay much less than that for a private lesson!  Oxford was the first to start charging these sort of prices and this really stopped us from attending a few last year!  So, well done to Ed Lawton!
