Marty and Lindsay's adventures in Lindy
« on: March 21, 2006, 09:19 AM »
Well done for making a great effort at what was a pretty tough class - see you again next time!

As promised, here's what we did

Class content

Warm up
(you just had to be there  ;) )

Beginners

Basic footwork Rock Step Slow Slow (Men L R L R, Ladies R L R L)
Closed Basic - Rock step is led through the right hand on the shoulder

3 x Closed Basic
Tuck spin (catch right)
right hand push turn
comb (changing hand back to left)
6 Count Lindy Circle

Intermediate
double time Charleston step pattern

3x Closed Basic
Tuck Turn
Change places (lady turn under) into freeze (or Frog  :D ) 6,7,8 ....
Opposite Charleston x2
Burst of Freedom ...
Back Charleston x 2
exit from back charleston using kick down kick down release left hand while turning right hand into back step

It's really worth working on the triple steps - they seem harder at first than using slows but they make moving a lot easier (the Lindy Circle is much easier to pull off using triples)

Thanks for that Andrew   :)

It was nice to see you and Julia again - you both are looking well

Last night was great!.... I was laughing the whole way through!  That charleston.....  >:D
On a more serious note - the footwork etc is a lot more interesting and varied then Leroc by itself.  The movements themselves are a scream..   ;D

Cheers
Martin

Excellent news - I think you'll like it. It's worth coming just for Graeme's sense of humour  :D

If you (or anyone for that matter) wants to see what Lindy is about (& it's not about sticking your bum out!) have a look at http://www.how2dance.com/media.php - don't try to learn from it (as it is slightly different from Savoy Style Lindy) but you can get a good feel for the dance style. It's quite a fun site with some WCS & Balboa videos

you try doing - e.g , a hand to hand charleston without max bum.
its gotta be stuck OUT!   ;D ;D ;D

if you're a follower going swivelling through your rock steps.. ditto!

do you think its more a question of making the bum stuck out a 'small ' part of the whole move??  >:D

SpinDr

But the class that Lindsay may be coming to is Savoy Style - hence the warning
